About

As of now, I, Amy Growcott, founder of The Marius Petipa Society, am offering ballet history lessons and presentations. I am introducing this as a new service of the Petipa Society because it is important to not just have information in print and available on digital platforms, but to teach and share knowledge in a direct manner with a wider audience. I am now offering ballet history lessons to the following:

  • Ballet and Dance Schools

  • Educational and Historical Institutions

  • Ballet and Dance Companies and Theatres

Age groups:

  • Adults

  • Children aged 10+

  •

The lessons and presentations can be given online via Zoom or Microsoft Teams and/or in-person. Travel arrangements (if necessary), locations, languages, dates, times and fees are all for discussion.

The primary topics covered in my lessons and presentations are:

  • Ballet of the 19th Century

    • The Romantic Era (1831-1847)

      • Ballets of Filippo Taglioni

      • Ballets of Jules Perrot

      • Ballets of Joseph Mazilier

    • The Classical Era (1862-1899)

      • Ballets of Arthur Saint-Léon

      • Ballets of Marius Petipa

  • Ballet of the early 20th Century

    • Ballet in Russia from 1900-1917

    • The early years of the Ballets Russes
